Transparency

On the 1st of March 2024 TI-Bulgaria signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Council of Ministers for joint activities towards changing the attitudes of society, business, and administration in implementing business integrity standards, clusters and measures that correspond to the objectives of the OECD and ESG strategies.

As part of the global anti-corruption movement Transparency International, developing its activities in more than 100 countries around the world, TI-Bulgaria has been working for more than 25 years to increase the anti-corruption capacity of public institutions, the judicial system, the administration of local and national level and business through good governance practices.

The expertise of the organization is also recognized by several European and international organizations and in 2023 our efforts received another recognition – a special consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

Our approach is based on the understanding that definite, radical, and sustainable changes in the prevention and counteraction of corruption in Bulgaria could be possible with a change in attitudes – of society, business and administration and the application of international and European standards of good governance. For this reason, our joint work is directed to including clusters of measures in this direction.

Our activities are also directed to implementation of business integrity standards, models of good governance that correspond to the objectives of the OECD and modern ESG strategies, civil monitoring of public procurements of significant value and importance through the implementation of Integrity Pacts and many others.

The joint actions with the Executive Powers will upgrade the established mechanisms for improving the business environment, for monitoring of good governance and the management of corruption risk in a wide range of areas of public and economic life, increasing the attractiveness of the country for foreign investors and the competitiveness of the Bulgarian business.

We believe that the joint initiative will lead to positive development in the field of anti-corruption policies, change of attitudes and sustainable transformation of the environment.
