Transparency International Bulgaria actively participated in the panel discussion titled “Transparent Governance: Challenges and Opportunities for Business,” which took place as part of the Governance for Growth business forum, a joint initiative of Confindustria Bulgaria, Global Compact Italia, and the UN Global Compact Network Bulgaria.
During the panel discussion, Mr. Kalin Slavov, Executive Director of Transparency International Bulgaria, emphasized the role of integrity and accountability for businesses—not only as an ethical choice but also as a strategic advantage in a competitive environment.
He emphasized that transparent governance reduces the risk of corruption, fosters trust among partners, and facilitates access to investment.
Among the main topics discussed during the forum were:
- How can standards for integrity and sustainable management be implemented in companies?
- The challenges businesses face in adapting to reporting requirements.
- The role of institutions and public-private partnerships in supporting open government.
- Best practices and international experience that can be adapted to Bulgaria.
The panel featured a number of leading representatives from the public and private sectors, including Mila Nenova, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency; Biliana Mladenova of UniCredit Bulbank; Luca Medizza of Protiviti; and Giorgio Gavioli of Synergic.
They discussed how companies can integrate sustainable management into their daily practices—from codes of ethics and internal controls to accountability and transparency in internal processes.
The forum brought together businesses, institutions, and experts to discuss how transparent and ethical governance can serve as a driver of sustainability and long-term success.
Transparency International Bulgaria’s participation in this dialogue is part of its long-term mission to promote the adoption of business integrity standards and to improve the corporate governance culture in Bulgaria.
