
Last week, on February 16-th 2023, was held the first Open Doors Meeting of the Business Integrity Club, which is a centre for companies and organizations to unite their efforts for fair and transparent business in Bulgaria. Members of the club are the Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, British Bulgarian Business Association,Association of Bulgarian Investment Relations Directors and the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, and at the meeting was officially welcomed the most recent club member – Confindustria Bulgaria. Mr. Kalin Slavov presented a Member`s Certificate to Mrs. Mila Nenova, director of the association.
Mrs. Jana Zacheva from Governance&Legal, a lawyer with years of experience in Corporate governance shared her more than 10-years experience in it in Great Britain. Mrs. Zasheva presented different theories about good governance and brought interesting examples to the attention of the audience of UK companies where non-comliance with business integrity policies or their absence had resulted into negative consequences, both legal and financial. A one-year company corporate governance plan was also shared which could be easily adapted for a Bulgarian company.
Mr. Georgi Toshev, a lawyer and president of the Institute of development and management of resources, which unites the interests of organizations, working in the field of energy, ecology and human resources management, presented the European regulation for the distribution of excess profits of energy enterprises and tha lack of activity at state lavel for its application in Bulgaria. Mr. Toshev provided examples of negative lobbying, which prevents the implementation of the regulation and provides for the seizure of excess revenues in the energy sector and their distribution among households. He gave examples of the application of the regulation in other countries in which the small and medium enterprises as well as people had alredy received the enntitled financial support.
Except for the club members, the meeting brought together representatives of companies, financial institutions, public administration and consultants, who had the opportunities to jointly discuss the presented topics.
