As a national chapter – part of an international organization – Transparency International- Bulgaria operate on prevention and counteraction of political corruption in Bulgaria for more than fifteen years. For the first time in 2001 an expert team of Transparency International – Bulgaria made a monitoring about the financing of the election campaign for the election of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria. Since 2009 Transparency International – Bulgaria monitor the entire election process, including monitoring of the citizens’ electoral rights.
